Stay on the lookout for more events! Here are some we usually do throughout the year:

All Year:

Gardening - Learn how to grow, tend and harvest many types of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers in the HOPE Club. All produce goes to Rockaway Food Closet to help over a hundred local families in need throughout the year.  

Tutoring - Tutor ESL students about once week after school.

Gleaning - Pick produce from farms that have hit the ground and are still good to eat with Local Shares. Help prevent food waste and support many local food pantries around NJ.

Can Shakes - Choose your favorite local shop and have your own can shake! Get creative and make your own posters and cans!

Bake Sales - Have fun baking and selling baked goods for great causes!

Grant Writing - Come practice your writing skills by learning how to write grants for the garden!

 

September

Rockaway Food Closet Collection - Help the Rockaway Food Closet by donating items for local Rockaway families!

 

October

Hunger Walk - A walk in Morristown to help support the Morristown Community Soup Kitchen and fight to end hunger!

FARE Walk - A walk around the Wild Duck Pond in Ridgewood to help support Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and fight to find a cure for life threatening food allergies!

NEW! Mental Health Awareness Project - Help create a display case and an event to educate the community about mental illnesses.

Dominican Republic Collection - Donate paint brushes and work gloves to help the Dominican Republic build new buildings!

 

November

Veterans Dinner - A special dinner for all the veterans and their families. Help setup for the event, serve veterans and cleanup afterwards.

Operation Holiday Hope - Donate items that people need and write letters to them. Organize items into gift bags.

Rockaway Food Closet - Organize and bag collected food items for the November Food Collection to go to over a hundred local families in need during the holiday season.

Charity Art Sale - Donate art and help run the event. Help plan, prep, set up, run a station and clean up the art sale for a nationally known charity to help people in need. The art show was run virtually this year. Click here to see the website.

 

December

Bake Sale for Angelina - Bake baked goods and sell them at the annual Hills vs. Knolls Basketball game. All profits go to Angelina, a former knolls graduate, who is unfortunately suffering from a brain tumor.

Rockaway Food Closet - Organize and bag collected food items for the December Food Collection to go to over a hundred local families in need during the holiday season.

HOPE Display Case - Design and decorate the display case to show the importance of the garden and other events we do!

 

January & February

Morris Hills Food Pantry - With past discussion about a possible Morris Hills Food Pantry, by this January a full plan will be put in place to really decide how a Food Pantry at Morris Hills, run by the HOPE Club could be the most successful in helping Morris Hills students in need of food and supplies over weekends and holiday breaks.

 

March

Spring Food Collection - Donate food items needed at the Rockaway Food Closet and help organize them and deliver them to the Rockaway Food Closet.

 

April

Rutgers Trip - Help at a water station to give water to the runners in the marathon. Just by attending this event, money goes directly to Cookies for Kids Cancer.

Continue to garden with us throughout the summer!
