Who We Are

From Alexa's June 2016 End of Year Speech

Former student Michelle Gonzalez started HOPE Club in 2010. Michelle had a dream to create a community service club that would allow her and all the students at Morris Hills to participate in local and global community service without having to pay membership fees or having to join right away in the beginning of the year. To this day HOPE Club is free to join and all Morris Hills students can become a member of HOPE Club at anytime during their high school journey. The HOPE Club works to support the local and global community by giving them hope and to inspire community service and hope throughout the Morris Hills Community. We participate in all different activities during each school year, which allows members to try new things and have fun while earning many hours of community service. The HOPE Club itself cannot be described as one event or activity, we do so many different things.

Our History

Described by an Interview with Mary Paulson

The HOPE Club was founded by one of our Morris Hills Students, Michelle Gonzalez, in 2010.

Michelle was committed to both local and community service. She could not afford to join the Key Club or any other service clubs. It was her goal to create a Community Service Club that would provide her dream of local community service, (within Morris Hills and in the Rockaway, Wharton, and local communities), and global community service while inspiring community service throughout the Morris Hills Community. Michele approached MP and Mrs. Hornby to advise the HOPE Club. Mrs. Hornby worked with the club for several years. Mrs. Hornby stepped aside a few years ago and Miss Triantafyllos and Miss Mankikar joined as Co-Advisors.
