HOPE Officer & OIT Video Call 9/1
Just before Hazel begins, just note that OIT stands for Officer in Training; Hazel just didn't want to type it all. So, on September 1st, which was 2 days ago because Hazel is not good at keeping up to date with all of her things since the teachers assigned so much HOMEWORK, we had an officer and OIT video call because Mr. Melvin said that no student meetings were allowed since there were faculty meetings all day. So, Hazel will start with the club fair: the officers and OIT's made a flyer to hand out, but basically there is a lot to do at the officer meeting next Wednesday. The schedules are out, but the lunches are not, so next Wednesday, the officers will have to decide who can cover what lunch blocks (there will probably be a google form or signup on the website for this). Also, the idea came up that there should be a HOPE video/slideshow made using iMovie to display using iPads and/or laptops during the club fair. Moving on, people really need to set set up can shakes these first few months because we have three field trips coming up soon!!!! The officers and OIT's came up with some potential dates for possible can shakes; one is on September 11, with the first shift from 2-4 pm and the second one from 4-6 pm. The second date is sometime in the evening of September 24th. Please reply in the comments box at the way bottom of the blog page if you are available! Then, at next Wednesday's officer meeting, we also need to plan for Operation Holiday Child, counting the supplies in the basement, scheduling and setting deadlines for each week, and picking dates for the Letter Writing and Wrapping party. For the RT Food Closet collection, the officers picked the start date as Monday, Sept. 12th and the end date as Friday, Sept. 30th. Hazel has made 2 flyers for the collection, but boxes need to be made next Wednesday so this can be started asap. Rima came up with some good ideas for the Mental Health Awareness display case in October, but the officers and OIT's were not sure whether there was a date picked or not for that. However, they did pick a date for the speaker to come in, which was the general meeting on October 19th, where the meeting would be left open to anyone who wanted to come. Anirudh said that he would take leadership on the DR Collection, and our deadline is October 29th, so the plan is to ask stores for donations of paint brushes, painting gloves, and rollers, and having fundraisers to raise money as a backup option. Similarly, Hazel has taken leadership on the Garden Display Case, which is supposed to happen in December - January, but the exact dates are not known/remembered. Murteza had thought of having a movie night as a fundraiser, but unfortunately, he was not present during the video call, and the movie night was pushed to maybe the spring until further discussion. Hazel knows that was a lot of information, but that was all that was discussed. Hazel can't wait to see everyone next Tuesday at gardening!
