Officer Video Call 2/9
Hello loves! Today, February 9, 2017 the officers decided to still have the meeting that was scheduled for today. A snow day does not stop the love and dedication we have towards this club. We met through video call a few minutes before 1:00 and continued until about 3:15. Hazel, Aakriti, Johan, Matt and myself stayed on the entire time, while Sohil, Anirudh, Karen and MP came on for somewhere between a half hour and an hour and a half. Unfortunately Rima and Mrs. M could not make the video call. We talked about a lot of things coming up and throughout the meeting I was texting Nicole, who is one of our garden officers. Karen was invited to the meeting to experience what it is like to be an officer and get caught up on everything since she missed the last meeting and is helping us with the art sale. She made a beautiful poster and so did Aakriti! This a reminder that all officer meetings are always open to anyone who would like to attend. We love hearing your opinions and having you with us.
So during this meeting we got a lot done and the following is going to be a numbered list which will hopefully help y'all keep all these dates organized. If you don't have a calendar where you write everything down in, I am going to personally recommend that. I use my phone calendar and a recollections planner as well. I like calendars and well maybe you can say I have an obsession with them. Anyways here is a list of everything you really need to know.
1.) So first of all, lets start with next week. HOPE Club is only meeting once next week. This meeting is a general meeting on Wednesday February 15, 2017 after school. This general meeting is a little different though as it is entirely garden focused. Nicole and Matt will be leading this meeting, but do not worry I will be at this meeting! I am still sorry I was sick and could not come last Thursday, which was our last general meeting. This meeting on Wednesday is open to everyone interested in learning about the garden, the history behind it, it's importance to our club, school and community, learning about grant writing, and everyone will also be getting hands on experience in the basement learning where everything is and picking seeds of plants that you would like to grow. This meeting will basically be an introduction to our 2017 gardening season.
2. The following week we are also only meeting once. It is Thursday February 23, 2017 after school. This meeting is an officer/art sale meeting. The officer/art sale meetings will be the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. Officers and art sale committee people should be at these meetings and anyone else interested in helping and being a part are also welcome to come.
3. The last week in February which also starts March is going to be a very busy week for us. Monday February 27, 2017 is our first donut and hot chocolate sale after school. All funds go to buying supplies for the upcoming art sale. We plan on making at least $60 profit with this sale. If you have a hot water thermos and could bring it in for that day in the morning before school starts that would be amazing.
4.) Monday February 27, 2017 (the same day as the donut and hot chocolate sale) is also our first official day of after school spring gardening. Nicole will be leading this garden meeting and we will be starting to make plans and plant seeds. Gardening will be after school every Monday and the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month for now on.
5.) With that February is over and March is here! We will be having a general meeting on March 1, 2017, as usual to follow the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month for general meetings schedule.
6.) Then on Thursday March 2, 2017 we will have a garden meeting after school.
And with that the pattern continues and I know right now it may seem confusing. But do not worry we will send out lots of emails and remind texts to help you all out! Thank you for everything you all have done for us so far and we look forward to working with all of you even more in the coming weeks.
