Apple Pie Extravaganza

Hi guys! So yesterday on October 30, a bunch of HOPE members got together in the foods room and made some apple pies! Despite having limited pie crusts, we were able to make 10 pies. All of those pies will go to local families in need. A bunch of groups had also made some extra seasoned apples that are ready to be placed in pie crusts which is great because all we have to do is just place them in the crust. LocalShare gave us over 100 pounds of gleaned apples which we used for our pies and the foods classes used them to make applesauce. If you don't know what gleaning is, it's basically when people pick up good produce that would not be able to be sold because its slightly "damaged" in some way. Anyways, our meeting was super fun and successful and hopefully, we can get back in the foods room and bake some more!
