Spring Baking!

In prior years, baking was an event that was primarily held during the late fall as we would make apple pies using gleaned apples from Local Share. However, this year the MH HOPE Club has done a lot of baking in the spring!

One baking initiative that we did this year was baking cookies for spring break baskets. These baskets include perishable goods from the pantry in the basement, breads and pastas made by Mrs. Sabo's cooking classes, and cookies made by the MH HOPE Club. These baskets went out to families who are food insecure as a way to ensure that they have enough to eat throughout this spring break. Members baked chocolate chip cookies (yum!) and some also tried to make cake cookies by using cake mix. Those didn't turn out as planned :/ Nonetheless, all of the members had a last and enjoyed their after school hours baking delicious cookies :D

Another baking initiative that we did this year was baking cupcakes for the Project Kind Jr. dinner. This dinner is being held to support Anthony and help him transition from being homeless to being housed. The MH HOPE Club baked 115 cupcakes and all of them will be served at the dinner and will be enjoyed by the guests. This was a fun meeting for all and went towards a great cause!

Thank you to all who donated supplies for both of these baking meetings; they would not have been possible without your support :) Hopefully, we can bake some more before the school year ends!
