hidden drive info
The title may have sounded a bit more shady than I intended it to, however it does describe what I mean to talk about pretty well. As a member of HOPE club, there is a shared google folder with A LOT more folders inside of it that is meant for all the google documents, slides, etc. related to HOPE club. The main folder is called "HOPE" and has separate folders for each year of HOPE Club.
It might take a bit of digging to find this folder, but trust me---it is worth it.
Within each year's folder, there are more folders dedicated to each branch of the club from gardening to the charity initiatives. Today, I am going to focus on the gardening folder since that is what I am most familiar with.
Honestly, I am really doing this so that next year people will not need to start from square one when it comes to planning or trying to navigate through the murky waters of gardening information overload. Thus, I am going to explain what each of these documents are in order from top down.
Garden Information
This is a spreadsheet with four different spreadsheets inside called "Beds", "2020 rambles", "Herb Ramblings" and "Tip idk anymore".
The first spreadsheet is about what the different plants we have grown in each bed every year. Currently there are plants listed in 2020, however I am pretty sure that is not happening (sadddddd). The beds are labeled by letter and to figure out which bed they are referring to, you will need to look at the Google drawing "Garden Planning 2019" or "Garden Planning 2020". The purpose of this spreadsheet is for rotation and planning. This way, we do not plant the vegetables in the same beds every year.
The second spreadsheet is a collection of information that I gathered about the plants we were planning to grow this year. For the ease of typing, I used a lot of abbreviations which may have rendered the information incomprehensible. Rows 1-23 are general information while rows 26-46 refer solely to companion planting. I may end up deleting this spreadsheet and compiling the information elsewhere in an easily understood fashion with fewer abbreviations.
The third spreadsheet is similar to the second, but is just about herbs.
The fourth spreadsheet is a collection of miscellaneous tips. Depending on how frustrated I end up, I may change this all later so this is a spreadsheet only for planning purposes. The information would then end up in a different document.
Garden Planning 2019 & Garden Planning 2020
These google drawings hold the basic layout of the garden and are used for planning the specific locations we may place each plant.
Garden Planning 2020
This is a document with information specific to what we wanted to grow this year. The information from this may also end up being consolidated elsewhere.
Herb
This document holds information about herbs that was not already in the "Garden Information" spreadsheet. It is not about all herbs and only contains information about herbs we already possess the seeds of.
HOPE Club Seeds
This spreadsheet also has four different spreadsheets in it. They are "Sheet1", "12/2019 Seed Inventory", "12/2019 Formal Seed Info", and "12/2019 Seed Information Dump".
The first is from last year when we compiled the information from the back of the seed packets.
The second is exactly what it sounds like.
The third and fourth spreadsheets are related as they are attempts at organizing the information we have accumulated.
Labeling Organization
This document has different ideas on how to be more organized and plan ahead.
Masterlist of Garden Blog Posts
Here is a list of all the blog posts categorized as "garden" along with a few bulletpoints on what the post is about. This is to make it easier to find information on the website as links to the posts are also provided. It is in chronological order.
Seed Family
This was created in conjunction with "HOPE Club Seeds" and has information on families. Family in this case is in the same sense as genus or species. It will be useful for planning.
Various Information
This is really just random information like pollination and propagation. I will definitely be expanding on this in the future.
Wish List
It is what it sounds like. The point of having a document for this is so we can keep track if there is any supplies we might want or need.
Whew! That was a lot to get through!!! I hope this helps for any future gardener and I have plenty of stuff to organize now. :D
Good luck!!!
