Garden Meeting 10/30
Sorry for the delay! This post is just a general summary on what we did on October 30 so...
We cleaned up the garden in preparation for winter by pulling up dead plants, moving the tools to the basement, and doing some weeding. At this meeting, we didn't harvest anything since as you may or may not know, the food pantry, that we donate our produce to, is only open in the mornings. That's also why it's vaguely difficult to arrange transportation of the produce since it would have to occur during school around first/fifth block.
Quite a few people showed up to the meeting! You can't see all of them in this (bad quality) photo but there were nine people (myself included)!!
People that attended this meeting were Stacey Tang (Garden Officer), Raven Hall, Karthik Kundurthy, Jessie Fan, Neil Shah, Katie Carratura, Grace Cortese, Thomas Cortese, and myself (of course :D). In the picture most of us are weeding although Stacey and Neil are measuring the garden beds.
There was one plant that was particularly difficult to pull up. Last year, one of the science classes grew a bunch of seeds and put them in one of the garden beds. However, they didn't tell us exactly what they planted and we still have no idea. One of the plants was this bush looking thing and it got cut down when the rest of the plants died due to winter. Notably, its stem remained in the bed. We made some progress in digging it up but every single time we dig up a root, another one appears. Hopefully we'll be able to completely clean up the garden entirely soon.
Until next time!
