Hello! I know I mentioned in the last post that Ajay had finished the greenhouse and here it is!!! The greenhouse looks amazing and the doors are slidey (a super important feature). Especially with how high the temperature has been the past week, I'm pretty sure that we could legitimately cook an egg in there. It is quite clearly a highly effective and functional greenhouse. Currently, we are looking into getting a couple of shelves and brainstorming ideas on what to do.

Here we can see some of our super dedicated gardeners who returned to school on the first monday of summer vacation to garden! We still have garden meetings in the summer so please keep an eye out for any emails or google classroom posts about the upcoming meetings.
Now for the moment we have all been waiting for...an update on how all of our plants are doing!!!

As you can see, the kale, brussel sprouts, and broccoli are doing marvelous!!! While they are definitely not ready to be harvested, they most certainly have grown a tremendous amount compared to when they were first transplanted outside. If you look at the leaves in the bottom left picture, they are huge!
At some point in the future we may need to adjust the placement of some of the leaves. This is to ensure that each plant receives the optimal amount of sunlight and are not covered up needlessly.
Additionally, in the top left picture, you may have noticed that one of the plants does not quite resemble the others. I believe that we may have had a slight mishap when we transplanted the plants and accidentally mixed up one of the broccoli and brussel sprouts. Whoops!

The peppers are still adjusting to be outside with our wacky weather. Nonetheless, they most assuredly look better than they did when they were first transplanted!

We have four bean plants!!! I may have planted them slightly late, but it will be interesting to see how they turn out. The bean plants are one of the first plants that I recall planting directly into the garden beds on purpose. Generally we grow them inside first instead.
I formed the little walls around two of the plants to help trap more water for the plant to absorb. We did this when we first sowed the seeds, however they appear to have worn away quickly due to the water. Here is to hoping that these walls will last longer!

Meanwhile the tomatoes have practically exploded up! We ended up needing to adjust some of the plants so that they would grow along the cage instead of drooping over. You can even see some of the cilantro in the top right corner! The plants bolted so the taste will end up being different, something that we will need to keep in mind next year is whether or not we still want the cilantro to grow in the same place and to remember to prevent the plant from bolting. Furthermore, there were already a couple of flowers in the tomato! I won't be surprised if we are able to start harvesting tomato before the end of the month!!!
Keep an eye out for any emails and I HOPE you have a wonderful summer vacation! I will be going through some old blog posts in order to make a more consistent tagging system. I'm not exactly sure how the notification system works so don't be alarmed if you get emails about changes in the old posts.
Until next time!
